Beauty Without Cruelty (BWC) had an idea so revolutionary that it changed history for all of time in the cosmetic industry. Kathy Long and Lady Dowding had such a love for animals that they felt that the cosmetic industry should no longer test their products on animals. Their notion of Beauty Without Cruelty soon altered the cosmetic industry for ever and set a new standard not only for consumers but manufacturers as well.
Beauty Without Cruelty was established in England in 1963 by the BWC Charitable Trust which happens to be an animal welfare group. Their idea was to make and market natural, color cosmetics that had no testing on animals and didn't contain any animal components. All of this was the doing of Kathleen Long as she was a life-long welfare activist, cosmetician and a vegetarian as well. Kathleen, along with Noel Gabriel, established the first cruelty-free color cosmetic lines.
Kathleen died in 1969 and Beauty Without Cruelty all but closed their doors but Lady Dowding was determined to keeping the company going. From this point, Beauty Without Cruelty began to blossom again and began to grow. By 1978, Lady Dowding brought in Joseph Piccioni as a managing director of BWC who was also an animal rights advocate. His expertise, inner vision and his personal assets turned BWC around into one of the most sought after cosmetics in the United Kingdom.
It wasn't until 1989, that BWC was made available to consumers in the United States. Based on BWC's ethics of fair pricing, pure quality and environmentally friendly products, they became one of the cosmetic's lead brand name. Later on in the year, they developed skin care products to compliment their color product from Great Britain. American consumers readily took to the cruelty-free, vegetarian idea making this company one of the most respected and recognized manufacturer in the market.
BWC continues to expand their cruelty-free product lines to include skin, body and hair products made with the best natural components available. They also offer aroma-therapeutic essential oils along with their color cosmetics to meet every women's needs.
Today, they offer products such as shampoos and conditioners, styling aids, cleansers, eye make-up removers, lipsticks, facial moisturizers, toners, special treatments (masks, eye gels, serums), vitamin C and CoQ10 facial products, sun care, hand and body lotions and many of their products are available in travel size ensembles.
If you want to try their product, travel/trial sizes are available. If you're looking for high quality cosmetic products that are not tested on animals, look no farther. BWC has everything you need and believe it or not, their prices are very reasonable. BWC's prices are comparable to your local discount store and pharmacies if not even less.
